Bluetooth Motorbike Helmet Recommendations
I'm looking to buy my husband a bluetooth motorbike helmet as a gift but don't have a scooby about them!
I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations as to whats a good helmet (and whats not!) Obviously I love a bargain but don't want a cheap nasty thing; would pay prob up to about £200.
Any advice from bikers would be appreciated or if you could point me in the right direction of useful websites giving impartial reviews.
Thanks

No idea on different systems but a lot are "bluetooth ready" which means you can add in the bluetooth module - tends to cost a lot on top of the lid though!
For example, I have a Schuberth C3 which is one of the quietest lids going (what you want when trying to listen or have conversations) and that comes in at £400 with the bluetooth kit extra.
Have you thought about an aftermarket system that he can add to his existing lid? (All depends whether he actually needs a new helmet or not I guess!)What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Do not buy him a new helmet mail order as a gift - sizing & comfort are too important to take a chance0

Good point. I meant to say the same but forgot!
You could always get a gift voucher to get round this. Hein Gericke should help (should be ok now they are owned by the Germans). What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Oh gee this isn't as easy as I thought it was going to be - looks like its gonna be socks and aftershave again for him.
Many thanks for all the advice - much appreciated.Massive thanks to all who contribute on the MSE forums, especially on grabbit and competition boards0 -
Please don't get a gift voucher - your money is not protected.
Given that:
1. Hein Gericke is now owned by Hein Gericke in Germany and not a brand labelling job
2. The expenditure is likely to be in the near future
3. I happily spent my gift vouchers there last time out.
I don't think a gift voucher, in this case is a bad idea. I would make sure i was going to spend it quickly but beyond that I think the above is unnecessarily scary.
Here's a link to a decent site I have always found to be reliable. As you will see OP, the headsets themselves (these are just solo for listening to music) can be up to £300

Not a cheap option at all. For reviews i would look at the MCN website here http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Products/productsresults/_/N-520?Ntk=site&Ntt=intercom&Ntx=mode+matchallpartialWhat if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
I have the parrot SK 4000 and couldn't rate it high enough, there is also the Scala rider which is very good, either of these two are the market leaders.
Both will do the job nicely.0 -
There are a number of diffferent manufacturers who make bluetooth headsets that can be added to any helmet. Do a search on Interphone, Sena or Cardo (also known as Scala). I have been using the Sena SMH10 bluetooth headsets with very good results over the last year. They work brilliantly as a rider to pillion intercom but also work bike to bike. They also do a SMH 5 model which can be bought as a single unit if no rider to pillion facility is required.

The price range on the link above is between £100 and £223, which is a long way from £300.
I guess this is not a subject you know much about and if you had done a little research you would have discovered other options such as a Sena SMH 5 available for £87 for a solo unit

or £90 here:-

Or a pair of Sena SMH 10's for £270 here:-
