    Just thought I'd update...

The kid has been setenced to 18 month youth custody but the court said I wouldn't get any compensation (I wasn't required to attend court - I was kept updated by the witness care dept.).

I sent the MIB a photocopy of the letter saying what happened in court and someone came to inspect the damage to my car on Friday (7th Sept) exactly 4 months after the accident. It's a good job I have a driveway.

I did receive a cheque for £450 from MIB for 'inconvenience' and travel expenses. (£750 less £300 excess) so I don't have to pay the excess on any settlement for the value of my car.

The Motor Insurers Bureau have been fantastic with my case but I guess mine might have been an 'easy' case with the police being involved in the actual accident and witnessing it.

Something similar has happened to me. My car was parked outside my boyfriends house when his neighbour reversed into it. He is a 17 yr old uninsured provisional driver. I called the police who said there was nothing they could do and that i had to inform my insurance. My insurance said i would lose my 4 yrs no claim discount and would have to pay the first 500 pound. The damage will cost just under a grand to repair and the uninsured driver agreed to pay me back. This was nearly 4 months ago and although i ask him for the money on a regular basis, i have so far seen nothing. I really don't know what to do, the police and my insurance have been so unhelpful. Surely they should have been able to do something as he was uninsured and didn't hold a full uk license? Can anyone offer any advise?

Can you prove he was at fault? If so, you can probably take him to the small claims court.
