Hi everyone I'm back and I've decided to restart my 5 a day challenge.
It's really motivating to do all the big things which make a difference but I'm sure all the small things really add up too which is why I started this challenge in the first place.
So here I go (again) starting from today I pledge to do at least 5 things a day to save or make money to help build our savings account:-
6th Oct 14
1. Used £10 discount voucher (found on here) to get photos printed for Project Life - (meaning I paid just £2.65 for 106 photos which is much cheaper than printing them myself)
2. Nectar Adpoints - 37
3. Swagbucks - 3
4. Checked Free Postcode Lottery (FPL) - postcode was a Norfolk one but sadly not mine
5. No heating on whilst the kids were at the school (even thought it's billy Baltic!)
6. NSD including no craft spend:)
7. Meals planned for week using stores/ freezer
8. Put near date pie and chicken in freezer so can be used another week instead of being thrown away
9. Wahoo bingo - 13 bronze stars & 1 silver star won
10. signed up to Nectar shops newsletters for 100 point bonus (not sure if I had already done it but it said that my points would be credited within 28 days so will have to wait and see)Mortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020 -
I like the concept of 5 a day.
All the little things do add up, so it's worth doing
Good luck with your challengeEarly retired - 18th December 2014

My "5 a Day" for today:-
7th Oct 14
1. Entered 2 competitions
2. Contacted Talk Talk to see if they could reduce my monthly unlimited broadband bill (£25 pm). They offered me three months free so I have saved £75
3. Contacted Sky to see if they could reduce my monthly payment (£71.25). They offered me 25% off HD charges for 6 months and half price sports and movies for 3 months so this has reduced my bill from £71.25 to £37.82 for 3 months (saving £100.29)
4. Nectaradpoints - 21
5. gave daughter refillable water bottle for school to stop her buying a drink of water each day which is what she has been doing (saving 50p)
6. Swagbucks - 3
7. Purchased Curanail online instead of at the local chemist saving £7
8. No heating at all today yet
9. NSD (apart from curanail which was an essential)
10. Stew & dumplings leftovers for dinner tonight
Feeling very proud of my totals for today - it shows it pays to try and haggleMortgage - £2338.07 paid off Feb 2023 BTL 1 £51,089.10 £35789.36 paid off July 2025 BTL 2 £81,504.52 BTL 3 £77,497.020
