Monsoon cardigan

Hi,
I bought a cardigan in the sale at Monsoon in January, it was approx £15, it was in store and I paid on my debit card.

After wearing it 3 times its gone really bobbly and now looks quite shabby, I haven't washed it yet.

I'm planning on returning it, even though I don't have a receipt, but the assistant in there is quite snotty and unhelpful so I just wondered what rights I could quote if she gives me a hard time?

Thanks
Sam. x

I'm not 100% sure but you would need some proof of purchase, so either a receipt of bank statement (was it 1 item at £15.00, that'll be more helpful)

And I think it would depend on whether a bobbly/piling cardigan is considered to be faulty - For that I have no idea :)

If it were me, I'd get proof of purchase, state that it's been worn and has started becoming bobbly, and try to get a replacement/gift card, as unless the item is faulty you don't have a statutory right to a refund if you change your mind.

I took the cardigan back today and showed a copy of my bank statement and got a full refund with no quibbling at all, I was very impressed.:j:j

Just to say that a new knitted garment will go Bobbly if it is worn a few times without washing. (The loose fibres have nowhere to go other than the surface of the garment)
The exception to this is cheaper garments which will have had all sorts of chemical washes to finish them.
