Conveyancing Direct - anyone had experince with this company?

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum so be nice! I had done a search for this but due to the popularity of the words 'conveyancing' and 'direct' there were over 300 results.

I am in the process of buying my first flat in Glasgow. I have found a place I really like, and have my mortgage agreement in principle, I now want to instruct a solicitor to put an offer in for me.

I have done a bit of searching online for various companies and spoken to a few over the phone, and the prices seem to vary quite a lot. The best one I have found is for a company called Conveyancing Direct, who are based in Glasgow and have quoted £634 for all the legal fees and various registrations. I have never heard of these guys before, I found some positive reviews on another site, but would like to hear if anyone on this forum has had any experience of dealing with them and their thoughts on them?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

We used them just over 12 years ago when we sold our old property and bought a new one (used them for both) and they were absolutely fine. I was a bit wary as they were so much cheaper than a regular solicitor but I needn't have worried everything went like clockwork.
We're actually trying (very unsuccessfully) to sell our house again and when/if it ever sells I intend to use them again.

I have used Conveyancing Direct twice now, for a re-mortgage and a move.

Again, I was a bit wary as they are quite a lot cheaper than solicitors who were local to me and, having dealt with them now, the price reduction comes at the cost of face-to-face time, however this isn't of any concern to me.

I bought my new house before I had sold my previous property and during teh purchase they acted quickly and communicated using e-mail and telephone and replied to any questions I had usually the same day.

The sale of my previous property was quite difficult and protracted however they continued to help and, when teh sale went through, dealt with everything promptly too. Without a doubt, they made a difficult sale as easy as possible.

Whilst you do not get face-to-face contact, you are assigned to a named solicitor and get all of their contact details. Also, should 'your' solicitor not be available, one of the solicitors can look into your file and help as required.

Overall, I would happily recommend them, in particluar the solicitor I dealt with, Martine (hope this is ok to put on a public forum?).
