Buffalo Wireless - help! Can't go wireless...

For my first post, I am going to ask a question that I know has been asked in my ways, shapes, and forms, but I am desperate! So hopefully someone will take pity on me and offer some assistance.
About 2 months ago I purchased a Buffalo Wireless router. All was going well, setup seemed fine until I got to the point where I actually had to go wireless. Basically, as recommended I had setup with the cable connected, but have no idea how to get the system to go wireless. Either the instructions were missing something out, or perhaps I am!
I am using an acer laptop and have broadband with Telewest (now Virgin Active) - am more than happy to answer lots of questions if it means I will be able to use my wireless router without having to just bin it!!

If your laptop has built in wireless capability then you should be able to activate it and "see" a list of wireless networks in your vicinity. If it doesn't have built in wireless you will need to buy an adapter, this is in the form of a PC Card (PCMCIA).0

Yes, we do have wireless built into the laptop, yet whilst I can see other people's wireless connections I cannot see my own. Which leads me to think there is perhaps something I haven't done to in effect switch to wireless.0

Login to the routers wireless settings screen and check that you have actually enabled wireless. Enable AP box checked. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Thanks - will give that a go (assuming it's easy enough to find) - am not a total computer dead-head but have never set up a wireless connection before so lots of new things I've never done am having to learn! Am leaving work shortly but will do it when I get home later this evening. If that doesn't work there'll be another call for help!0
