Knowing you, No, is the short answer.
I tried it and failed, but they are cheap to buy http://www.hedging.co.uk/acatalog/Index_Hedging__Trees__Shrubs___Conifers_A_B_3.html
Doesn't like frost pockets apparently.
I've used the above company and they're very friendly and helpful.
Give them a call or email and ask their advice for your mini Mount Everest location.0 -
If you're cutting the hedge anyway its worth sticking them in pots rather than throwing them in in the bin.
I have a mixed hedge and took a load of cuttings before the winter, some look as if i'm going to be lucky. It cost nothing to try.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Bare root privet are about £1 each, so I suppose Beech would be similar. But do try rooting cuttings as said above.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

Beech is notoriously difficult to grow from cuttings, if you want to propagate from your existing hedge, you're better layering some low level branches by pegging them into the soil or pots about 9" from the tip and cut them free once they've rooted."We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."
