First Direct Regular Saver is back

Hi all,

Apologies if this is old news and there is a thread already (I did do a quick search but couldn't find anything).

The FD Regular Saver is back - this time at 6%AER.

I wonder if people with the 8% one can open this as well as it says 1 account per person but this is a 'different' account as it has a lower rate?

Opened one for my husband and I today already. Strange day to bring back though. This is the following on their website for anybody who wants to know how much interest they will earn with maximum £300.

For example, if you save the full £300 per month for 12 months you would receive approximately £117 gross (£94 net) in interest at the end of 12 months.

6% is still a very good rate in current circumstances! When my 8% one runs out I think I'll still go for one of these.

Dear FD account-holders: does it allow weekly standing orders?

(I've just discovered to my surprise that my otherwise decent Nationwide Flexaccount doesn't.)
Free the dunston one next time too.

I believe their system is iCal-based so the frequency can be almost anything but they do not publish their natural language syntax. No problem as it can be done over the phone in minutes anyway.

This is good... I opened my first regular saver with FD in 2011 and when this matured in August 2012, I phoned them up and asked if I could do it again: to my amazement, they said, 'yes, of course'- They opened the same account (with a new account number) and so I am saving at 8% for the second year running. I guess I will have to 'downgrade' to 6% next year when my account comes to its full term...
