I applied yesterday but for various reasons have decided I don't want/need it, does anyone know at what point I can tell them I don't wish to proceed?

Looks like you have to go into a Branch or write a letter to close a current account

There might also be some cooling off period since presumably you applied online? Call them and ask.0 -
I haven't even been accepted for it so have no account to close, I just don't want to proceed with the application. I assume you have the right of cancellation at some point?Every Penny's a Prisoner.

Yes, however you'll have completed the application so if accepted they'll automatically open it, unless they require ID or something, so you'll just have to close it. Just a bit of hassle, no big deal really, although you won't get the search removed from your credit report.0 -
Not bothered about search and there is a branch nearby so I suppose it'll get sorted easily enough thanks.Every Penny's a Prisoner.

I waited until I received my internet banking information and then sent them a secure message saying I didn't want the account. Worked a treat and saved a visit to the branch.0

If you asked for your Direct Debits to be transferred then you should ask the bank currently holding them to block the transfer then wait for the 123 account to appear and close it.MFiT-T3 #149: {Q4/14} (£46,447)-->(£0) ~ +£46,447=100%
