HKD vs YEN

Does anyone have an info on HKD vs Yen? I'm holding about 50k UK worth of Chinese RMB which needs moving soonish as my work contract expires then - I'm heading to Japan though have the option of depositing it into a HSBC HK account. I don't intend to invest though was wondering which currency performs better or if anyone has an inclination toward either currecny for some reason.

The Yen is being devalued. Read up about 'Abe'. Although only talk at the moment he has said Japan will print Yen in un limited amount to target inflation at 2%. But this talk at the moment but has had an impact.

The Hong Kong dollar is linked to the US dollar at the rate of around 7.8 HKD per USD.Reformed Saver!0

Thanks for the info though I'm a total beginner on foreign currencies. I'm assuming a devaluation of the Yen is not good if holding Yen and at some point in the future wanting to change that into a foreign currecny/buy a propery outside of Japan? As for the HKD being linked to the USD, could chazzee explain a bit more about that and the overall outlook for the HKD as I read that USD is becoming less a reliable currency. or is being linked to the USD a good thing overall for a currency?
Thanks to you both!0
