I am not sure if this is the right thread but I have a question about my will.
I am trying to update it and my present will gives security of tenure for my daughter, son in law and grandchildren to stay in our house, where they live, should I die. This stands until the youngest reaches 18 and they have always lived with me as my daughter has never left home.
I have been using a will writing company and have been told that this has to be put in trust as it will not stand otherwise and it will cost up to £800 to do this. I was not told this when I wrote the present will and wondered if there is a knowledgeable person who can clarify this?
The inheritance tax liabilty is covered by a term life insurance so the house should not need to be sold.
My son and all grandchildren are included in the will but he knows what I want and is happy to leave it this way, should I die, which I hope that I don't in the next 10 years.
Thanks

I presume you have further intent with regard to the house once this grandchild reaches 18? This will need to be written into the will.
Personally I would walk away from this will writing company and use a local solicitor. Name two of the family as executors (not the solicitor). I could be wrong but I think the value of your property has just inflated the will writing company's fees.
Hopefully you will live long enough to write a further will to decide the final destination of your worldly goods.0
