Cheap accomodation in Central London

Am asking on behalf of a friend who has a 2 week placement in the City over the summer and he wondered if I knew anywhere cheap to stay-preferably self catering facilities too.

i told him I could probably find some people who did!

How old is your friend, as it may determine whether he has to pay per night or can get some form of short-term contract 'let'.

Whereabouts will he be working? It's relatively easy to find 'cheap' digs but travelling across the city could massively increase his costs. (I noticed you used big 'C'ity, but if that's where he's working then travel is almost inevitable). Will he be working regular hours when Tubes/day buses are still running?

Try the university halls - they rent out rooms over the summer while the students are away.

Then I would definitely look at universities.

The closest is probably Kings College on the Strand, although Metropolitan may be suitable towards the East or UCL near Russell Square.
