I listen mainly to mix CDs on my MP3 player, each album will have seperate tracks which should mix together without pauses.. this isn't happening when i rip the CD to my MP3 player. How do I remove the pauses between the tracks? I'd be grateful for any help!

    Some encoders do this.

mix CDs are sometimes encoded as one big mp3 then chopped up or index by a cue sheet.

What mp3 encoder are you using?

I'm just using Media Player to rip the CDs at the moment and downloading onto my MP3 player.

iTunes does gapless playback for MP3. I am not sure if it does them for burned audio files as well but worth a try.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

Which ever program your using to burn. you need to change the setting to remove the "gap between tracks" normally it tends to be set at 2 secs. Once you remove this it should play correct.

I'm not burning CDs, i'm using mix CDs with seperate tracks and ripping these onto my PC using Windows media player at the moment, where I can't find an option to remove pauses?

I think gapless playback with itunes only works when you play back with itunes, or playback with the newest ipod - the hardware is different so wont work with older ipods or other mp3 players. (I think an mp3 player - software or hardware - can only load and play 1 mp3 at a time, so after one finished the next must be loaded and started - may be just a fraction of a second gap, but enough to notice - not good for my dodgy 80's concept albums...)

There's an option in itune to join cd tracks (advanced>join cd tracks) - you do this before you rip the cd, then get (for example) one big mp3 of the complete cd, so no individual track name.

I think this is the only way to do it...

An mp3 of the whole CD is what purists use, and then use a cue file to navigate the mp3 file.
