Used car advertised price reduced after paid a deposit

So the story goes....

I saw a car advertised at evans halshaw ford in Darlington for £23486 2 weeks ago. The dealers website, auto trader and eBay all said it had 4000 miles on the clock. We went view the car and it actually had 11k as it was a demonstrator. We liked the car so I started the negotiations with them around price. The sales guy told me that their prices we researched and set by head office and that this would be done on the 1st March. On the 2nd I checked their website and it was still at the original price. We went to see the car and we did a deal where I would pay the £23486 but they would fit a removable towbar as part of the deal. I was happy with this and paid a £200 deposit and arranged to pay the balance and pick the car up on the 16th.

I have now checked their website, auto trader and eBay and not only has the mileage been updated, £400 has been knocked off the advertised price. When challenging the dealership they have initially said that the original price is correct and

"we have logged a call with our IT people to see where the website is pulling the reduced price from, we suspect it may be the “write down” that accounts will have put into the standing value of the car on the 1st of march."

Where do I stand now that I have paid a deposit, can I insist I pay the new advertised price?

Thanks

No you entered into a contract at a price and that price sticks.

You were happy with the price offered and you paid it...no you cant insist on a refund - besides, does the £400 lower price also come with the tow bar?

    ...I think not.

When I read the title and the fact the car was over £23k I certainly didn't expect the difference in price your unhappy about was a £400 :)

You could just forget about the deposit and pay the "new" price in full, thus saving you £200
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
