    Anyone any ideas?

Does the signature on the empty envelope you sent match the previous one?

If so then could it count as theft? In which case threaten to involve the police (I'm sure the police won't really care but maybe the threat will help - mentioning that you have evidence that he signed for it).

    Ideas about what? About this:?
Why would Royal Mail pay compensation on something that has been delivered as far as they are concerned? It doesn't make sense.

I could order anything online, have it delivered, sign for it, and then say it didn't arrive. Surely Royal Mail will not pay out in this case?
It doesn't matter how far they are concerned. They have to prove that they delivered and the only proof that they have so far is some signature.

If you sign and then say that it didn't arrive they can prove that the signature was yours. I am no expert, but this might even constitute a criminal offense.

Yes. You will have to pay the card bill. None payment is not a option. Unless you want to end up in a bigger mess.

RM. Again all you can do is try.

No matter what we say. We are not the people who are going to make the decision on you asking.
