Hi
Could you tell me if when you open a building society account, they credit score you to see if they will give you an account or can anyone have a building society account?
Thanks

If you are talking about a current account, you will be credit scored like with a bank.
If it is a savings account, they will only perform a name search.0 -
What if it's a basic (current) account without overdraft facility? However, even in this case a BS is no different from a bank.0

My lovely neighbour and friend has been made bankrupt and just wants a very basic building society. No overdraft, just to be able to pay and withdraw? Would that be credit scored? Thankyou x0

See the basic accounts sticky above. Also the article: Basic Bank Accounts0

Plenty of simple savings accounts you can choose from at many building societiesFor everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -
