I'm looking for the best place to purchase disinfectant for the commode.
I paid around £15 last time, for 2 litres.
What do people use and how much do you pay please, plus what brand and are you happy with it?
Thanks

If it is only for rinsing out the potty bit then hot water and a cheap value brand ought to be enough. It's not like you are going to eat off it.0

Any reason you can't just use bleach? 80p a litre at the supermarket.

Why have a commode?
An aged aunt had a cassette type of toilet put in by the family which uses chemicals to destroy the matter. It even flushes like a real toilet. The same type of toilet that you see in modern caravans.
We decorated the understairs cupboard, tiled the floor and part of the walls, installed electric lighting and put in this 'toilet'. It works a treat and is much better than the 'chair with a basin' underneath and gives her total privacy.
We made a point of telling her that she MUST NOT smoke in there!!!!0 -
When I first got my SPC (supra pubic catheter) I was given reusable night bags and I used generic versions of dettol at 2 bottles £1 from the £1 shop, you dont need much of it so it lasted about three weeks. I use single use now and Im much happier with them.
I have always used Dettol spray for my toilet adaptions but its expensive at about £3 a can, I have found a huge can of generic dettol spray at the 99p store and its just as good and lasts ages because its a such a big can.0 -
Thanks for replies.
The disenfectant I use starts to break up waste and neutralises odours so if no carers are here over the weekend, the commode doesn't need to be emptied daily.
Any basic sprays which reduce germs, don't eliminate odour and it wouldn't be pleasant having to sit in bed with a urine smell eminating around the roomThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
