I was quoted for some work to some company property, I accepted the quotation I was then a sent a pro forma invoice, which I paid immediately by Faster payment order into the suppliers bank.
They have contacted me today to say the quote was wrong and have resent a new quote with a 50 % increase.
They have basically said its that or tough go elsewhere.
Does anyone know my rights?
The work was due to commence on Friday.

I'd say that you have an agreement at the original price as they sent the invoice and accepted the payment. You could have a few options.
1. Force them to do the work at the original price. Would you be happy with this? Might they botch it?
2. Get a full refund and go elsewhere.
3. Get some more quotes, go elsewhere, and make them pay the difference between their quote and the next cheapest one.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I don't think they would botch up?
What legal grounds could I force them to do it?0 -

On the basis you had an agreement and they accepted payment.
I personally wouldn't trust them any more, as if they did it at the original price, they'd be p*ssed off, so would probably cut corners or do something sly! Not that I'm cynical or anything...

Don't allow these people to do work on your home. get your money back and go elsewhere. You may have a fight on your hands to get the money back though.
Did you pay the entire invoice up front or just a deposit? you should never pay more than 10% in advance.0 -
Would the fact that it was a business to business contract rather than a business to consumer one have any affect on the OPs rights?0

If they can f!!k up an invoice I wouldn't trust them to do any actual work. Get a refund and go elsewhere.0
