I'd respond to the disciplinary then saying something like:

On the 5th, when I notified the admin office at xx:xx hours [get this time from your phone records] I was quite clear that I would not be at work for a few days and that I would be contacting you when I was able to return to work. I responded to the text that was sent in good faith, and unfortunately left out one word, probably because I am on pain killers at the moment and I am suffering from intense pain. It is clear from the text by me saying 'sorry' that the response was in the negative to your enquiry as to whether I would be in the next day or not. I am very sorry that this misunderstanding has occurred and will therefore refrain from communicating by text in the future. I am hoping to be back at work on xday, but I will be seeing my doctor before I return.

Procedure is wrong. It should go to investigation first.

You are within your right to postpone it to allow to get your union rep to attend with you
