Cheltenham,restaurant recommendations please

I have been asked by some family members coming up from London to stay in Cheltenham to arrange a surprise meal for my Mum and Dad. It is their Diamond Wedding Anniversary so needs to be somewhere nice but not too expensive.

Problem is my parents are in there 80's and like traditional / non spicy type food. A friend suggested Jamie Oliver's place but it doesn't seem to have very good reviews.

Also whilst family are driving they don't know the area so nearer to town center would be good.

Can anyone help please?

Have a look at The Daffodil, my favourite restaurant in Cheltenham. Never had a bad meal here.

I used to live in Gloucester, and therefore went out in Cheltenham quite a lot.

I would also recommend the Daffodil. Also check out Flynns - very nice restaurant in the Montpelier area. They will cater for most dietary requirements, and its usually fairly traditional food. I've never had a bad meal there and prices are very reasonable.
