Employer deducting money from my wage
LKO
Could anyone help me please? My employer deducted £117 from my January wage and £96 from February wage. When I asked him what's the reason he said its a tax rebate. Shouldn't I receive any letter from HMR about my tax underpayment? Can he just take money from my account just like that? The other thing is I didn't receive my payslips for 3 months. As my employer is very disorganised. Please help! Thank you

Rebate usually means you get tax back!! I would ring up your local tax office and have a chat. Have they got your correct address etc?0

Distinctly dodgy, in my opinion! Get in touch with HMRC as soon as possible and clarify the situation. Not only does "rebate" mean a refund to you, but it would make no sense to deduct differing amounts on two consecutive months.
Act quickly and let us know how you get on!0 -
~What does it say on each wage slip.
I'm getting the impression that you are not understanding something.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Thank you all for your reply. Of course I don't understand, I wouldn't be posting here and asking for help ...I got paid the same amount since I started work for this company- since August till December. In January I got paid less and my employers answer why was - last month December was a tax rebate. But it was the same amount as the previous months. I haven't received any letter from HMRC. And the company is in administration and I've heard some people didn't get paid last 2 months. Anyway I've got an offer for another job, so I guess I better take it. Don't want to be without my wage next month.0

Make sure you get your payslips, and even more so your P45 when you do leave.0

maybe tells us what a normal payslip looks like
i.e.at least gross pay, net pay and taxcode (say December)
and then tell us what your January payslip says again
gross pay, net pay, taxcode and any else that's relevant.0 -
I will do that, but another hassle, as I keep asking for my contract since I started- 7months now. Do I have to give them 1 week notice? Thank you0

That's what I was trying to say.
No details means no meaningful answers.
I wonder if the company had a close down over Christmas period and no holiday pay had been earned for any annual holidays.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
