We've never had a specialist in this area. My GP diagnosed ME and then I was left to get on with things myself.
I've seen a doctor privately and have helped to set up a local NHS clinic but I'm doing everything they teach people so it hasn't been of any help to me personally.0 -
What specialists? I'd be interested in hearing about any NHS ME specialists - there's none around here.As I thought - no specialists/doctors/consultants.
None here either.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I'm following the advice to the letter and I'm still getting really fluctuating symptoms.
Have you joined action for ME? I find they are a good source of information, the website is excellent and I like the quarterly magazines.

I've lived with ME for thirty years and have other family members who also have it and have helped run the local support group for many years.
The NHS has still to take ME seriously as a physical disease. There was a lot of harm done in the early years in the USA when the insurance companies tried to get ME classified as mental illness because that reduced their liability. In this country, Simon Wessely has spent years trying to explain ME away as a psychiatric illness and has managed to get lots of research money that would have been better spent looking at the physical changes in the body and finding a cure for them.0
