Tax Credits - stopped

Hi all, wonder if anyone can help - I was on single claim up until January when I reconciled with my husband, so contacted the tax credits people and told them he was back, but sadly he left again, so I called to update my circumstances, a letter was sent to me asking for more information, i.e wage slips, bank statements, utility bills, details of my sons college course etc, etc - all of which was on my 'single' claim previously, only to get a letter back saying that I don't have sufficient info to qualify for a single claim, I am waiting on a new tax credits pack to be sent out to me so I can resubmit my claim, but to be honest I am at a loss as to why I have been turned down.
I work 30 hours a week, earning £6.25 per hour
I pay council tax (I receive a discount for being the only person in the house over 18)
I have a son in full time education (the college course qualifies for child tax credits)
I have a mortgage plus all the normal bills we all have to pay
On the tax credits calaculator it says I am entitled to receive payment, but for some unknown reason, I'm not getting a penny
Any ideas why this could be?
Thanks

Possibly due to how near we are to end of tax year? And also the fact that your ex moved and out within a short time scale. Hence they need proof of income, bank accounts showing just you on it and utility bills in your name only + lots of other ways to proove it all.
Why not give them a ring and speak to someone about it and if they cannot see why ask for a senior member of staff to look into it and tell you why.0 -
yes, you could be right, however none of this was requested when I first told them he'd gone, so seems strange, however I will give them a call, just to see what else they want, as when I have gone onto the tax credits calculator it says I do qualifywhat goes around, comes around...........0

It isn't that you don't qualify, but that HMRC don't believe that you qualify as a single person. They will be wanting evidence that you are single - will help if you can provide an address for your ex.

well it appears that the problem lies with my husband still using my address, even though he no longer lives here, he's promised me that he is taking steps to change this, and hopefully that will be the end of the confusion.what goes around, comes around...........0
