claiming on a fleet insurance, need advice please

Hello all, thanks in advance for any advice you can give. I just want to clarify something, I was in a car accident as a passenger in my bosses work van, he said he will not accept me to claim for my personal injuries as his fleet insurance will increase by lots if I do claim. Now the person the driver hit is claiming for his own vehicle (not sure about personal injury) so surely if I claim too, this will still only be classed as one claim, therefore it won't make a difference to his insurance just because I have added to the claim? He says his insurance works by how much the claim is for, and his premium will increase the more people add to the claim, is he telling the truth? I only have my own car insurance so I don't know if fleet insurances work like he suggests?
Thanks guys x

Genuine Motorfleets have their premiums calculated by the type of cars and drivers. A massive influence is the claims history, unlike normal car insurance which in effect is influenced by the amount of claims. Fleet insurance works claims on the total value of the claims against the premium.
So if you add in the £3k plus costs of you making an injury claim against his policy it could have an influence on his premium.
You do have three years to make a claim.
What are your injuries and how serious are they?0 -
He cannot refuse your claim legally (it will be up to the insurers whether or not your claim is valid).
Though if you go against his wishes it may (will!) "sour" the relationship!
Your call. (You may have no choice if the job is more valuable to you than the compensation!)0 -
I was wondering if he may claim on my behalf without me knowing and keep the money, this is the kind of person he is! I don't have terrible injurys at all, i just have the typical stiff neck and back and i bashed my leg on the dashboard so I have a pretty big bruise. Thanks for the advice guys, I am hoping to part company with him in the near future, perhaps if i can wait up to 3 years I will hang on till I have left haha0

As has been said, when you get into true commercial insurance it is simply a matter of fact that incidents will happen when you own thousands of vehicles or thousands of buildings (was just looking at a policy with 120,000 different sites insured).
As dacouch says, you then get more into claims amount than number with the slight exception of catastrophic losses but this tends to be more in other lines of business than motor0 -

He would need to have fooled your GP that he is you and potentially an independent doctor for an examination depending on the amount he was claiming.
Based on names, it feels unlikely he would be able to do it.0 -
