Help Please - BG Refuse Credit Meter

Hello,
Apologies firstly if I am duplicating another thread but I couldn't find one addressing this question.
My partner and I purchased our first property on Dec 3rd 2012. Electricity is supplied by BG on a credit meter. Gas is also from BG but on a pre-payment meter. My other half put each of these accounts in her name.
Within a few days of the purchase she enquired about switching from pre-payment to credit meter for the gas supply but was informed that she had failed the credit check (she's never had a late payment in her life, and does have credit cards and now a mortgage). She was told that it is likely because she is a brand new customer and has no payment history etc. and that she can re-apply in 90 days. We have kept the meter topped-up and paid the one electricity bill we've had in this period on-time.
So, the 90 days has elapsed and she has been refused again. This seems ludicrous, all we want is a dual fuel direct debit for crying out loud!!!
Can anyone give advice as to how she, I or we can go about getting a credit meter. We have no loyalty to BG so if we can switch suppliers to get this we are happy to.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

You miss the point that a credit meter is potentially unlimited credit.
Have she checked her Experian file?
The other option is for you to apply for an account in your own name.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks for everyone's responses. We are both now on the electoral register (we weren't when we first completed the sale).
I think we will sound out some other suppliers to see if they will give us a credit meter.0 -

So did you buy the property in an cash a couple of months back?
I don't know of any mortgage company that would lend to someone that wasn't on the electoral register.0 -
Do be aware that if you have just been credit vetted for a mortgage and any other things to do with the new house that your credit rating will have decreased.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Normaly suppliers are not fussy on credit meters,Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
