S/S ISA - thoughts please

Hi folks, sorry for another similar thread to many on here. I've done a bit of research and was wondering if I could have your thoughts.

I haven't used my ISA this year so I'm toying with the idea of putting it in a S/S ISA. I already have one of these with HSBC and it's been brilliant. I went for a slightly riskier managed fund and have been really happy with the results. In that it's made a lot more money than the cash would have. I'm looking for growth over income.

Unfortunately HSBC don't seem to offer this product anymore. You have to choose the funds yourself, which frankly isn't ideal for me as I don't have much knowledge.

So I'm thinking of going HL and investing in a Vanguard Life strategy 100 equity fund - accumulation.

I'm really only choosing this as I've seen it mentioned favourably elsewhere in the forum and it seems like the kind of thing I'm after.

I'm happy with a pretty risky approach and I have a long term view. I have other cash savings and am prepared to perhaps pay a little extra in fees for something managed as I don't really have the knowledge myself.

Am I on the right track, or do you know of another fund that might be better for me? Thanks in advance.

If you don't want to do the research and want a long term buy and hold option this certainly won't be the worst decision you could make. For a single Vandguard LS, HL compare favourably with others but don't forget the £2 pm platform fee means you really need to put in more than about £5,000 to make it viable

Thanks for your thoughts ColdIron. Yeah, I'll be maxing out the ISA with £11K. £2 doesn't sound like very much to me. I paid 3% to do the HSBC ISA.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated :o)

The LS 100% version should be a very good long-term investment. I use it for my young daughter's SIPP with HL; the running costs are low and it has a good geographical spread including some emerging markets. Performance since its launch has been steady and in line with predictions and the tracking error margin is very low.
