Whilst waiting for Car Insurance docs....

Hubby is due to pick up a car on Friday. Looked at it last Saturday.

We currently have no car as it was written off by Insurance company. Decided would not renew with current company (renewal date 9th March) Have informed not renewing with them & got confirmation.

Hubby has bought Insurance online through Ford Insure, asking for it to start 8th March. Payment went through Monday night. Have a receipt for the payment but no other confirmation.

If we do not receive in the post by Friday the Insurance documents then am I right in thinking the car dealer will not let my husband pick up the car?

Do you think if it is not here tomorrow husband could ring the customer services at Ford Insure & that could fax a copy & that would suffice? He cannot do that Friday as he is working from home then we have an arrangement that the man from the dealers will pick hubby up from here to go & collect said car & do the payment. We are paying in full as the cheque has cleared from the Insurance company today.

Any advice on how to proceed if Insurance docs not here before Friday would be appreciated, thank you

Unless the garage need the certificate for taxing the car there should hould not be any issue over this.
  • Why not ask the garage if you need the certificate? if they don't it would allow you to stop worrying
  • Thanks both of you.

Shrimper1 I tend to worry a lot. lol Trying not to!!

Quentin, dealer has said will put a year's tax on however somewhere else I read that a dealer can tax a car with their trade insurance & this is an official Ford dealer. Not sure how accurate that is.

Think if it doesn't come then will get hubby to ring dealer to find out.

    Thanks again both of you

Email it to you or fax it directly to the garage. No matter how technologically backward they are they will be able to do one of the other even if it is just a cover note (though they almost never exist these days)

Don't let the dealer tax it with their insurance - they may have to register it as theirs then change it to you - this would add another "owner" onto the history and potentially adversely effect the value later...
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.
  • Thanks for that rudekid48, wasn't aware of that. Will let hubby know
