Incidentally, we had a memo come around our hospital saying this was a sackable offence.
All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.

Good grief, you're a nurse?! Your code of conduct will mention upholding the integrity of the profession or some other such phrase. My Trust has the whole disrepute thing as gross misconduct. We also have a specific policy on social media. You need to find yours and read it. Read the disciplinary policy too. Don't the NMC have any source of advice for you? My professional body does. I'd strongly advise against lying. It won't end well for you if you get caught in it. You're in enough bother as it is. I'm not going to lecture you because what's done is done but you need to get advice from a reputable source - quickly!

I'd be tempted to grovel like crazy - but that's an admission of guilt too....tough choices.
  • If you are guilty and you know they have proof then you need to be grovelling and showing that it was a error in judgement and that your past has been impeccable(presuming it has!).

Though it maybe worth spending a little money to get a employment solicitors view or if you are willing to be wholly honest with everything then post on https://www.redundancyforum.co.uk for SarEL who will give you a proper view
Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked

    I've been Money Tipped!
Were you criticising or 'whistle blowing'?

What do your policies say? It is these that 'management' will use to direct how they process your case.

Again, WHY did you feel you had to do this? It may be relevant to the process.

I was looking for some general advice, not criticism.

In hindsight, I shouldn't of said it.

I'm not being formally disciplined at this stage, its just a meeting to discuss things.
If I get the sack I'll lose everything and be struck off the nursing register...
    You are a nurse?

Gosh I'd say learn by the mistake if the worse comes to it

Keep your tweets PRIVATE to people who you allow to follow you, very easy

There is nothing really to do but go to that meeting and be apologetic and calm. You know you've done it, you know they don't approve.

Once you've had the investigation meeting you should have information, and know what they intend to do now, and if there are specifics you aren't happy about then seek advice.

Publicly criticising your employer is never a good idea...
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • Oh dear. I did this a few year's ago when I worked for a large supermarket and they sacked one of my family. I was livid and made the mistake of telling people I thought they'd made a mistake and said it in front of a manager. Needless to say I had untold grief for about the next 3 months until I found a new job. They tried absolutely everything to get rid of me. I hate being undermined at work but would rather someone did it to me and then they got the grief than the other way around. Hope it works out for you.
