Software for designing a bedroom

My parents want to change the layout of a bedroom around to allow room for a 3/4 sized bed. Before they go and buy one though they'd like to see how the room will look and how much space they'll be for other things. Does anyone know of any software that will let me put the floor plan in and then add the bed and various things and let me play around with putting it in different positions etc.

You can use Google Sketchup and there are tutorials online for doing floorplans and room layouts with it.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

If it will be a one off job, just do it the old fashioned way ... Using graph paper
If you are new to CAD work, by the time you learn how to use a program, you could probably have done it on graph paper several times
There is a good program called Visio, which used to be included in Microsoft program deals, which included Word, Excel etc0 -
Google sketchup is great. I made a model of my entire house as we moved in so we could plan building work and furniture layout.
It's perfect for what you need0 -
I always enjoy messing about with http://mydeco.com/3d-planner/
Easy to use, and shows the finished effect in 3d.0 -
Old, i.e. free, versions of Ashampoo Home Designer are still floating around.
Can't really comment because I've never got around to using it.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
IIRC, there is something on the B&Q site https://www.diy.com where you can design a bedroom or kitchen.0

Hi.
We did something similar for an extension plan , we measured up and marked out the area on the lawn using canes and string. The units and appliances were newspaper and cardboard.
It worked really well and convinced us to build a bit bigger.
It was a dry still day.
