Best tasting Cherry tomato
Gardening Which has just published their results for the best tasting cherry tomato, based on the taste tests of 1000 people.
The best tasting red was Suncherry Premium F1 and the best tasting orange was Orange Paruche F1. As good tasting, but with a lower yield was Sungold F1. Gardeners Delight had poorer taste but much larger yield.
I grew Suncherry Premium and Sungold for several years to compare them and agree that they have a very similar taste, but Suncherry has a slightly higher yield and less likely to split than Sungold.

Rosada from Thompson & Morgan. But they cost about £3.50 for 6 seeds, unless you manage to pick them up in Dobies July sale for 50p.0

According to the RHS it's Floridity:

but really there is no such thing because people have different tastes.
Last year I grew Dr Carolyn, which Real Seeds raved about. I found it bland and woolly, but it got me a 2nd in the village show. The chickens liked it! :rotfl:
I'm trying Floridity this year. So far, they are the most manky looking tomato plants I've raised, but being me, I know looks aren't everything.0 -

Exactly. I get sick of these experts telling us what is best. I favour a nice sharp flavour, not too sweet, but that's only my preference. I bought a Capsicum baccatum chilli from Simpsons seeds last year as they said it won the taste test with visitors. I thought it was awful, florid, yuck.
I grew Maskotka tomatoes last year, and it did okay outdoors despite the rain, and tasted nice. The ones in the large 12" pots did best.
I think it matters how you grow them, too much water, not enough sun and they are bland. Spanish peppers in Winter are gorgeous because they get the right amount of sun.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
Like the OP, I've grown both Suncherry and Sungold, but prefer Sungold. I find them tastier and (touch wood) haven't had a problem with splitting. I've also grown Red Alert outside and was pleased with them till last year when the incessant rain led to a very poor crop. My biggest disappointment was with 'tomato tomazing', which were advertised as being the tastiest etc and only sold as plug plants. Tasteless compared to all my others.0

I love Sungold and Black Cherry.
A lot of my customers buy Red Alert from us as it is earlier to ripen so therefore is not as affected by poor weather, and you generally get a crop before blight is about!0
