Granocryl Masonry Paint

Has anyone used the above masonry paint?
We have and its blistering and flakng off, the walls were heavilly scrapped before painting, where render exposed a sealer coat of paint applied before overall painting. Originally the house was an aweful blue colour and the paint needed 3 coats to cover - it was like it was too thin. Next door painted with weathersheild and they were moaning about it being too thick.
Also had an issue where exterior filler has just powdered away - guessing this is damp / frost damage so I will rake out and fill with cement and sand.
Just keen to resolve the issue with the paint - could the original paint be preventing a bond to the granocryl.
Or would it be better to buy a better paint?
