Lancashire energy switching campaign
New to the forums so sorry if I should not be making a new thread for this (!) but a new switching campaign has been launched in Lancashire recently, and is currently running through March, with the 'People Power' site enabling signing up to the scheme.
As an aside note, it will be interesting to see how the energy companies deal with these schemes if they grow in prevalence over here, if they do, of course.

I expect they will deal with them as they have in the past.
Some of the big suppliers will refuse to partake
Some of the small suppliers might offer one of their existing tariffs. Co-op seems to do this quite often.
No supplier has ever offered anything other than one of their existing tariffs, so you may as well just use a comparison site today, and start saving sooner
Cashback too if you use one of the MSE links.0 -
I used the Greater Manchester Fair Energy recent auction and achieved a saving of nearly £100 by upgrading my 2014 April Scottish Energy tariff to September 2014.
A lot of offers will be the same as advertised tariffs but with a big end of year discount !0 -
My view and have seen a few popup in the last month is that they are doing it to gain comission, after all they are not audited so how can you trust their info?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

If they get commission then fair play to them, the part I understand is nearly £100 extra in my pocket !
The contract is a standard SP one with the extra discount written in . All there in black and white , printed off and saved on my PC .
Whats not to like ?0 -

Tell me more.
I know nothing about any special end of year discounts only available through the Greater Manchester Fair Energy scheme.
Do you have a link please?0 -

But you could have got at least this saving , probably more, via a comparison site.
... and cashback too, probably.shammyjack wrote: »The contract is a standard SP one with the extra discount written in
Maybe that will give us more detail of any special discount tooshammyjack wrote: »Whats not to like ?
Use a comparison site to find out:

Edit: the posts on the scheme's facebook page don't seem impressive.
https://www.facebook.com/gmfairenergy
Perhaps you should post on there
It looks like they could do with something positive
I would accept proof of the alleged end of year discount from the owner of that site too0 -

I'll believe that if either you can provide a link from the appropriate scheme's website thay confirms this, or if onne of the Scottish Power reps on this site confirms it.
Maybe that will give us more detail of any special discount too
Why not just call me a liar and have done with it !
Everything I stated is correct and I do not have to justify myself to you .
As to cashback I got that for my November switch , this extra deal is not available through switching sites as it was Scottish Powers winning bid at the auction .0 -
http:// www . gmfairenergy .com/
is the official link and signup.
apparently over 35,000 signed up for the January auction and the April one is set to exceed that one.0 -
No, this is the link to the Lancashire scheme
http://www.peoplepower.co.uk/
But I wouldn't bother.
Stick with MSE

i think it was 250,000 people signed up Which's attempt at this last year and the best deal they could come up with was..........More expensive than the cheapest deal on offer at the time.
Worked wonders0
