and the larger the tile the greater the waste. So for large format tiles allow 15%. I also always advise to buy a extra box on top of your measurement plus cuts/wastage figure. That allows you to make mistakes, it allows you to get the measurement wrong in the first place, it allows you to have some spares left over for the time when one or two get cracked or broken and require replacement. It means that they will all have the same batch number rather than buying more later when you need them and finding they are a different colour.

    Cheers

PS Oh b...er here I go again. Giving more stuff away. :p

Very true, crack one of those 600mm porcelain jobbies and that's a fair % waste:D:D

The area plus 10% came about in the days of standard 6" sq tiles, things sure have changed.

I was coming from the position of having done a job for myself with 30mm sq mosaic travertine, I had more left when I'd done than when I started:D:D:D,

    Giving stuff away, Keystone?;);)

    Consider it an investment:D:D
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

  • I had great service from www.onlinetileshop.co.uk a couple of weeks back. I knew the name/code of tile I wanted having seen it in an outrageoulsy priced shed and so googled it.

They sent it by pallet free of charge when everyone else wanted £40.00. Very friendly, would use them again for sure.

    I order my underfloor heating from this lot after being recommended by someone on here to use them for Marmox boards. http://www.ambient-ufh.co.uk/shop/under-tile-cable-kits-(tp)/81/?r=58;

Again very good customer service, dealt with my silly questions without issue. Will use them when I do my bathroom floor again for sure.

There is also another option for many.

Tiles are bulky heavy items and not easily sold over the internet so don't discount (pun intended) your local tile shop.
We don't live in town but have at least 3 such places within 15mins drive.

The will try to compete with online suppliers plus pick up has to save you money, and to champion the cause, you will be supporting your local economy which is beneficial itself.:T:T

Not sure about travetine tiles but I used walls and floors for the tile in my kitchen last month. Really good prices and the service was very good. Cashback too and theres usually a code for free delivery. The samples arrived quickly too.

I went through travertine direct in January: Premium Classic Medium 610x406.

Tiles arrived promptly on a large wooden pallet. One or two corners rounded but with cutting absolutely no problem. My 20 meters had 10% waste and I ended up with a few spare. Just as well as we have decided to upsize the new basin.

The price was about 25% cheaper than the local suppliers :)

Sadly had to see the product in the local suppliers which seems unfair - but a problem for the industry and not me I feel :(
I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance
