According to the map it goes across in a diagonal at the back. There are no signs anywhere and all the houses are fenced so I don't think it has been used in recent times.

I was looking at a pretty little 2 bed terrace. Seemed perfect - until I learnt of this self same right of way issue.

Put me right off - and would do the same for the vast majority of potential buyers.

Just think of the re-sale problems you'll have.

I think if it hasn't been used in a certain number of years you can get the path removed. BUT if the path gets used it is your responsibility to maintain it.

There was a note in the local paper that the Ramblers Association are trying to walk every right of way in the country this year - to keep them open.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

Having a public right of way across your property is not desirable - any Tom, !!!!!! or Harry can exercise their right to use it, including potential burgulars.

The moment you try to shut down a right of the way the ramblers association will turn up with several buses filled to the brim with ramblers. Time to swallow that £1600.

Actually the dog option is a pretty good idea!

Just get one of those ankle biters in the garden, and the locals wont even attempt it!
