It's unlikely that this very sophisticated method would resist the full resources of the state if you were, for example, carrying a nuclear weapon and being chased around New York by George Clooney and Nicole Kidman. However, for any situation which doesn't involve real-time network monitoring and a mobilised special forces group, it's good enough.

and it's amazing how far you can get with a Linux laptop/iPhone/Android device/Blackberry without losing internet connectivity by hopping between unprotected/public WiFi signals.
Then you've got those 3G mobile broadband devices. I've unlocked mine so I can use any SIM, including those disposable PAYG ones if I really wanted.0
