Motorbike insurance worry!

Hi

My motorbike got stolen from outside my workplace yesterday..in broad daylight. I moved house in September 2012 and bought the bike earlier in the year. Unfortunately I forgot update my insurance policy with my new address...I did both my reg doc and driving license. I have actually moved to a far lower risk area but my main worry is that they will deem my policy invalid due to my rubbish admin. Does anyone know if my insurance claim will not be honored because of the address error?

Your problem would be if the insurers normally wouldn't cover your address.

Are you at the same work place still or did that change too? If it did change then does your policy state where your vehicles kept during the day or not? (most dont but a few do).

Assuming your place of work hasnt changed and everything else on your policy is OK then you will most likely be ok because the non-disclosure is not relevant to the incident. The only exception will be is if your insurers never insure vehicles in the area of your new address for some reason.

That said, they will do an mid term adjustment to your address and if that generates any additional premium or admin fee then that will be payable, potentially before the claim is settled (or they may just deduct it from the settlement).

If they believe you intentionally deceived them rather than just forgot to tell them then its a different matter.
