Ebay payment - How long to wait?

Hi,
Usually when I sell items people pay straight away or with a couple of days latest. I have a customer who is now three days over, I have emailed them to ask when they will be making payment.
How long should I leave it before escalating it?
Not really sure this post is in the correct place but I suppose it could be a rant if they do not pay

It's 4 days before you can raise an unpaid item dispute with ebay, so if they haven't paid by tomorrow or responded to any of your communications, raise a dispute.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Hi Glennn,
I sell a lot on eBay and every so often you will get a customer who forgets they bid on your auction and/or doesn't have eBay hooked up to an email account they check every day, so always send a polite first message - they may have just forgotten.
Personally, I email my buyer after one week with a polite reminder and a note that if I do not receive payment from them within one week I will file to cancel the transaction and relist the item. This usually does the trick with the forgetful ones - I've only ever needed to go as far as the cancellation once, and I've sold hundreds of items.
If this seems too long to you then by all means set a shorter deadline for them, but occasionally even people who pay promptly do so with Paypal bank transfers or e-cheques which take five working days to clear, so you can't always expect to receive your money immediately.
Good luck!0 -
3 days man - they might've gone to Woodstock or something...0

Thanks,
I don't mind waiting longer than three days but some communication would be nice. I sent a polite message yesterday so will wait till the weekend before taking it further.0 -
I don't wait around for non payers any more. A reminder on day 3 or 4 and then a full NPB opened the day afterI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
