Warranty Group and written off tv

Hello,
I have a problem I sent my TV off to be repaired and it has been written off (Panasonic 40"). The Warranty Group are offering me £279.99 to replace the tv but it cost me £399.99 to buy. I have looked to see what I could get for £279.99 and it isn't anything near what I had repaired (or not repaired). I bought it from comet so can't go to them. It was a 5 year warranty and the tv was bought in aug 2010. The fault was so small and I'm gutted I had it sent to be repaired as the fault was so minor.
any advice is appreciated. I won't be able to afford a 40" with £279 and I can appreciate that the money paid out i 10% for each year but it was supposed to be a like for like replacement.

This is the part to check, along with any excess. What is the exact wording about if the item is unrepairable?
In some cases warranties are indemnity based and so if it is unrepairable or uneconomical to repair you effectively get a secondhand/ reconditioned value.0
