    I know PAYG top-ups are the fraudsters' favourite for a stolen debit card, but I've often wondered why.

    What can someone do with £30 of O2 credit other than send 250 texts? And wouldn't O2 just kill the PAYG Sim card when they the chargeback comes through from the bank?

    Yes the sim is killed when the money is claimed back.

    Of course the £30 will have long since been spent and the sim dumped.
    Phone credit is easy to either sell on, or use for whatever they need.

    TBH. Time that phone co's stopped sending out sims and went back to the old days when mobiles 1st came out and you had to register and prove ID to get one.

    Clearly the losses to ALL phone co's is not something they are bothered about.
    Know for a fact that 02 do nothing more than block the sim. As the only fraud they are interested in is where someone has set up a fraud account and got a phone.
