Barclaycard - Print Offs.

I applied for a Barclaycard, the long balance transfer one. I received a letter saying I had been approved but asking for proof of identity in the form of a Utility Bill, two recent payslips and two bank statements to tie in with the payslips and showing pay being paid in to match. For completeness I added a P60

Now, I have never had this before before having always been approved online, the proofs I sent where all print offs from online as I go paperless when possible.

My question is this, will print offs be acceptable ? I know I will find out soon enough from Barclaycard but was wondering if anyone has experience.

If I have to provide hard copy's from the relevant people I don't think I will bother proceeding as each would cost at least a fiver, including the payslips believe it or not. I only want to BT a grand so it's not worth paying what amounts to a few percent.

I have had a Barclaycard Platinum before but closed it in 2009 I suspect the reason they want these proofs are because since 2009 I have gone from earning 21k to 60k+ and if I was presented with this fact I would be suspicious too.

It should be fine.....I sent printed copies recently for a credit card application following their request. All my payslips, P60...etc are all online now, don't get hard copies anymore.
  • Some banks accept print offs -some don't.
It also depends on the person opening the account - for example: I opened a savings account with a Main Stream bank and it said clearly that Print Off's are not accepted, but the lady took it - as they photocopy all the ID and she said there is no way HQ would no that it was a print off (as I got it in PDF format).

However, it really does depend on the bank - but as long as they show your full name and adress, I don't think that you should have any problems.

It's the pitfall of on-line/paperless banking/invoicing - but I believe some banks, such as Natwest/RBS offer 2 paper statements (on request) free, specifically for this reason.
Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!
