Church Fees

Options
Hi,

Can anyone give me an idea as to what sort off fee the churches charge for a wedding? I understand they will vary but I have booked the church and the rector is being quite cagey about fees and we don't meet with him for another two weeks! I really need to start working to my budget and really need even just a guide figure.

I have estimated £500 for our main budget but not sure how close that will be to the actual figure.

Any advice would be great.

Thank you!

    Hi.

Ours is a small village church and we're having no choir or bells just the Banns/verger/organist and service itself which comes to £506.

It was a lot less but fees have literally just gone up. The base fees, however, are set by the Church of England so whilst the different components you have will change it (e.g. bells etc add more) the actual cost of each part shouldn't.

Obviously if you're not CofE this is all irrelevant but may help someone else so thought I'd post anyway :)

Ours is a village church and ours is £700ish but we are having the choir and bells aswell. I havent got the exact fee as havent seen the vicar for some time.
  • For us in a local C of E church it's £540 that's for banns, certificate, ceremony, pianist and it's an extra £30 for flowers.

If we wanted the bells that's £100

  • Our church is charging £760, this is for the ceremony, banns, certificate, organist, flowers heating (we are getting married in December) we are paying an extra £120 for the bells and it would be an extra £50 if we wanted the choir.

Looking at your costs it seems a lot more, maybe i should ask for a proper break down of costs?!

I would Charlotte - ours includes heating, not flowers but they're only £20 extra.

I am quite friendly with our vicar and I was talking to him about it. The Church of England have put their prices up...but our parish have decided to cover some of the costs themselves as they want to encourage people to still get married in church. If they were in line with the hikes implemented by the Church as a whole it would be about £80 more. Your does seem quite high though...but of course it could depend of the flowers.....mine are £30 as they are done by someone in the choir who does it as a hobby (she is retired) I would imagine lots of Churches cost a lot more!

Wow, it sounds really expensive to get married in the CofE! We're getting married in a Catholic Church and it is costing £130!

Thanks for the replys. I've emailed the wedding clerk and asked for a breakdown of the costs. She hasnt come back to me yet, but might go and see her next week with a few of your costings and a friends of mine which is also around the £600 mark if I still havent had a reply.
