sealing sink cutout

I know this has been asked before but I can't find the thread
What is I need to coat/seal the sink cutout edge of laminate and wood worktop (is it same for both)
I have ronseal clear varnish, is this OK?

I would say that would be fine.
I think they use neat pva or contact glue or even clear silicone.I used Evostic contact glue on mine as I had a tin open.
I was fitting the laminate on the end of work top.0 -
silicon sealant (go for anti fungal) works too. run a thick bead around the cut surface, then use a flexible scraper to fully cover the areas.
pva is water based so probably there are better products

I've always used silicone sealant. As mentioned above smear it over all the "open grain" of the work top and then put a bead around the top of the opening before seating your sink unit in. I've never had any problems doing it this way.
Makesure that all the "open grain" is covered, because you'll have seen how your weatabix goes when you've poured your milk on...My £2 savings total for 2007 = £92, for 2008 = £124
