Where are you? April 2013
For a tropical island escape that lives up to your dreams of white sand, turquoise lagoons, hammocks and palm trees, set your sights on The St Regis Mauritius Resort. Spectacularly located on Le Morne beach overlooking the Indian Ocean, it has elegant, airy rooms, an excellent spa and great food - including Mauritian-French fusion, authentic Indian and the freshest grilled fish.
Enter this month's Where Are You? Competition and you could win a holiday for two here. The prize, worth about £5,000, includes seven nights' half-board accommodation in a Beachfront Junior Suite, one 60-minute spa treatment per person, return flights from London to Mauritius and airport transfers. It is subject to availability and must be taken before 1 December 2013.
For details, call 00 230 403 9999 or www.stregismauritius.com
Identify the location on page 146 of Cond! Nast Traveller April 2013 and send in your entry to arrive by 30 April. All correct entries will also be included in the Grand Prize draw at the end of the current competition period (1 October 2013-30 September 2013).
Clue:
You won't believe your eyes here. This landscape of white sand dunes and dark-blue water is like a Romantic poet's hallucinatory vision - the Lake District meets the Sahara. But it's a real place and surprisingly full of life: horses gallop, fish flip, migratory birds swoop and snap. Stretching inland from an ocean shore and covering an area of 1,500sq km, the region has been a national park since 1981 and is named for the rolling sands' resemblance to sheets settling onto a bed. It takes hours to get here by road from the nearest town, but increasing numbers of visitors are making the trip - presumably for a taste of what life might be like on another planet. Gung-ho hikers can cross the park in about three days. Alternatively, you can take a tour by four-wheel-drive or in the saddle; or just settle back in a boat as it carries you down the lazy river that flows through the slopes of sand. Where are you?
