views/advice wanted on what could be an unfair practice by a coach firm

Hey -I think this is unfair and wanted other people's views /advice.

My parents have booked a coach tour for £179pp pounds and final payment was due last Friday. They paid and in the papers on Saturday was an advert for the same coach tour at £109pp.

They rang up to see if it was the same tour and it was. It seem only 4 people had booked the tour so it had been reduced but they won't refund my parents the difference or let them cancel and re book as they had already made the final payment.

My view is to have the advert in the papers on Saturday they must have known before my parents paid on the Friday they where going to reduce it.

That has to be wrong !!!!

No it's not wrong.. It's supply and demand.

Your parents books early and guaranteed a place. It could have easily gone the other way and demand been very high and price gone up or fully booked when they decided to cancel.

When final payment was due is irrelevant.. They entered in to a contract on payment 1.

They was clearly happy with the price when they booked it, so wipe up the spilled milk and get them to enjoy their holiday.

    Perfectly fair.

It's normal to reduce unsold seats nearer the date, so your parents could have risked it selling out and waited until later to book.

Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If only 4 people have booked.... Then there is a good chance NO ONE will be going.

It's the same as buying an item of clothing and seeing it weeks later in the sale.

Why? Its no different to purchasing a can of beans at 50p one day and the next day it being reduced to 45p
