Hi,
I'm on incapacity benefit and income support. I been on this for a few years have not recieved a PCA and I believe I need to get a new sick note.
I've been meaning to go on an important trip to see my relatives. I'm a suspended university student, this means my only way of getting housing benefit is through income support. If the income support is cut off, I have nothing.
Luckily, I'm hopefully going back to uni in September which means that it's not the end of the world if my IB is cut in July. I'm also moving house in July, into cheaper accommodation incase this happens.
I was worried I might fail the PCA so thought it would be a good idea to go on a months holiday abroad for June, and move out of my flat at the end of may. I've kinda made these plans and will be informing the DWP, however, I've now realised I could appeal the PCA, in which case I wouldn't need to move out of the flat as I'd get IB and income support.
My questions are, how long would the appeal be likely to last? If I lose the appeal I will have no income and an expensive private tenancy and bills to pay. If it's unlikely to be resolved until July, then I can feel safe living here.
I haven't been for a PCA yet but I fear one is coming. How much notice do you think they will give me to attend?
