Over paying on loan

    When was it taken out? Loans from 2011 I think it is have to allow overpayments and many before that did too.

    Quick bit of advice though. When you go to make an overpayment, pay all but a tenner off your loan. Then when you go to make your final payment, the early repayment fee is calculated on the tenner, and not on the whole amount. I've done this twice now and confirm it works.

    Beware though that this only works if you have NOT contacted your loan provider and asked for a remaining balance/settlement fee recently. If you have, you need to wait for this to expire (30days I think) before making your overpayment otherwise it will come off of your settlement figure and you'll still have to pay the larger extra fee.
