How easy is it to do. My oh seems to think it's just a case of going to the counter at our local branch with the loan number and handing over the cash.. Is this true or really not that simple. :)

I am not convinced that you could do that over the counter....must maybe contact your lender by phone first to know their procedures on how to proceed....

It depends on the lender and the specific loan agreement.

Eh? Why react like that? "Well what do you think?" I have no idea, you haven't stated.
One phone call to your lender would get a definitive answer.
    No need to be defensive.

You would be amazed at how many people don't do the obvious.

    Valid question from Andy IMHO.

  • I can pay extra on my bank loan, by simply paying over the counter at the bank.

Indeed, on Monday, I will be paying off my bank loan :j , by that very method.

You're right as your original question and response to Andy have shown.

Yes, those people are everywhere - Sorry, you're one of them.

Andy's response is obvious but absolutely the right one.

I have one with a major bank and often pay money off each month over the counter. I always have to tell them not to reduce monthly payments though or it decreases by a few £'s on the next payment...realised that the first few times over paying.
