Financing a new car that's faulty.

Thanks everyone for the advice so farIf was sending a brand new car in for repair/warranty work, I would be fully expecting a decent courtesy car at minimal disruption to my day.
I would be getting worried that they might be procrastinating over this thus making it difficult to reject the car. Of course the manufacturer could be working double time to get a fix out for the problem, but who knows!
You need to keep a diary of what is happening with the car and what actions you have taken by you, the garage and the manufacturer.
I'm confident that i would get a courtesy car. But think of it this way (ive had a look on the recall register regarding my car and there is no 'voluntary' or 'safety' recalls notified), my car would spend an extended amount of time sat in the workshop for a problem that has no official fix - i would therefore be financing for a car to sit in the garage.

Who was the supplying dealer - have you spoken to them about this problem? You need to tell them, in writing, that you will reject the car if they cannot resolve the gearbox fault.
i have spoken to the dealership and they want to go down the warranty repair route again. Which i completely understand - but if there's no fix for it then what do they do? There is clearly a flaw with the production of the car's gearbox, so why replace it with a new gearbox from the same production line? With no confirmed fix, there is only a slim chance that i will get a new gearbox that works - not mentioning the cost and labour involved to change a gearbox hehe!anotherbaldrick wrote: »What is your problem in getting your dealer to comprehend your problem ? The first step is to contact customer liason and see if they are making any efforts on the issue and take it from there. I've missed my lunch so it may have to wait for tomorrow0 -

Reject the car.
No ifs, no buts.
If there's a design fault there then you're quite right that it could take a very long time to get sorted (if ever!). Meanwhile, if you have to continue using it there's a possibility that your continued use will cause further damage that they'll then deny responsibility for.
A gearbox fault in 2500 miles / under 2 months (going by your commute distance) is absolutely not fit for purpose, especially if it's a "common fault" on that model.
You may have noticed that all warranties carry words to the effect of "this warranty does not affect your statutory rights". That means exactly what it says - the warranty is an additional benefit offered by them and they can't insist that you use it to sort problems instead of using the rights that you're given by law.0 -

I was thinking the same, I thought it odd it was omitted in the initial post but it appears deliberate when it's still not identified when directly asked. I think the advice people can give is limited without knowing what car it is.

Wonder if the Op will be back to update with all details asked for, it does seem strange that he hasnt.
Dont really understand why he hasnt been back to dealership to either get it sorted or to reject it0
