I don't use adwords so can't give conversion rates. However, the theory goes that you are much more successful with advertising on facebook if you are looking to keep people on facebook i.e. promoting your own facebook page rather than driving traffic off facebook onto your own website. That makes a lot of sense, if you are advertising on facebook to build your group page and build your brand it may work (though probably not all that cost effective). If you want to use facebook advertising to instantly convert facebookers into quick sales I doubt it will be very effective.
