edinburgh castle

ive just been to edinburgh castle had a great day. when i was walking up to the castle i could see the historic scotland staff watching me. whe i got to them they said that as i was using crutches if i went and got my tickets then came back to them they would get me a car to take me to the top of the castle and when i was ready they would come back and pick me up from anywhere within the castle and bring me back to the entrance. wonderful service available to all disabled people and their party.
saved me a lot of pain not something they advertise

Good th here you enjoyed your visit I visit the castle once a month and they always arrange the car , Historic Scotland who run the castle are really very good with disabled people .

Sounds like they have definitely changed since I went - for the good. I went on a trip a few years ago and was exhausted just with the travelling. We were dropped off at the Castle and I was looking forward to looking all around despite being so tired. However, there were parts that had signs to the effect of not being suitable for the disabled. I was using a stick and could barely walk and the staff didn't give any advice or suggest any extra help.

Despite my experience I am really pleased to hear about your experience. Shows that advances can be made in taking people's needs into account. I would love to go back and experience the Castle in a 'fuller' way compared to last time.
